Combine three layers
Ambient light provides general illumination. Task light supports reading or working. Accent light draws attention to artwork or architectural details. Give each layer a clear purpose and consider separate controls.
Check comfort and compatibility
Consider glare from seated positions and reflections on screens. Confirm lamp type, colour temperature and dimmer compatibility for the exact fitting. Review samples in the intended space where possible.
Prepare for installation
Record ceiling height, power points and the location of furniture. Ask a qualified installer to assess mounting, weight and electrical requirements before ordering. Installation details depend on the fixture and site.
